Education & skills development
Itad supports organisations to strengthen education and skills systems so that learners of all ages gain the knowledge and capabilities they need to thrive in work and life. Through evidence, insight and learning partnerships, we help ensure that education and skills programmes are more equitable, effective and responsive to the needs of rapidly changing societies and economies.
Despite significant global challenges, more children and young people attend school and participate in learning than ever before. With this progress comes the possibility of more integrated and effective development programming, where education systems not only support academic learning but also nurture the skills and capabilities needed for equality, social inclusion, productive employment and better lifelong personal and economic outcomes for all learners.
Access to quality learning and skills development is a fundamental human right. Strengthened education and training systems—spanning early childhood, basic education, technical and vocational pathways, and lifelong learning—can promote gender equality, enhance social and financial inclusion, improve health outcomes, and support more resilient and sustainable futures. They are especially critical for the most vulnerable learners, including those affected by displacement, conflict and fragility, who often face the greatest barriers to developing the skills required for participation in society and the economy.
Our work in education and skills development promotes a cross-sectoral, whole-child and whole-learner approach to understanding what works. Through learning partnerships and capacity building in monitoring, evaluation and learning, we provide data, insight and evidence to our partners to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of education, training and skills systems. This helps ensure that learners of all ages gain not only knowledge but also the foundational, transferable and technical skills they need to thrive throughout their lives.
