This practical, skills-focused programme is designed to equip emerging leaders in evaluation, learning and strategy with the confidence and capability to lead projects effectively.
This programme has been purpose-built for independent consultants, early career project leads and experienced team leaders to address the gap in support available for transitioning from technical roles into project and team leadership.
Whether you’re stepping up for the first time or refining your leadership toolkit, this course offers a structured, practitioner-led pathway to stronger, more confident team leadership.
About the programme
Delivered across four expert-led modules, participants will explore the real-world challenges that team leaders face—using case studies, hands-on exercises and guided reflection to deepen and apply learning.
These modules are concise learning experiences and do not need to be completed in any particular order.
Each module features:
- Two practical, three‑hour online sessions
- Expert insights from seasoned team leaders, client representatives, and Itad’s Operations Team
- A 360-degree view of the team leader role—spanning delivery, client engagement, and operational excellence
- A group coaching session, supporting reflection and next steps in your leadership journey

Module one: effective, inclusive leadership
Facilitator: Jo Robinson, Principal Consultant at Itad
Module 1 builds the foundational skills required for effective leadership, including:
- Leading inclusive, collaborative processes
- Aligning team and client needs
- Facilitating across cultures and contexts
- Building confidence in navigating complex or sensitive team dynamics
This session took place in June and July 2026.
Module two: impact champions
This session focuses how to build stronger foundations for client relationships, how to lead effectively and how to gain ‘trusted advisor’ status.
During the sessions, we’ll cover:
- the types of monitoring, evaluation and learning clients you might encounter, and their operating contexts and challenges
- how to communicate clearly, manage expectations and tailor engagement, including influencing stakeholders without formal authority
- recognising when trust may come under pressure and how to respond constructively to challenges and tensions
