Jo Robinson

Principal Consultant

Jo Robinson is a Principal Consultant in Itad’s Fragile and Conflict‑Affected Settings practice, with over 12 years’ experience working on conflict, peace and security. She has extensive experience in the Horn of Africa, alongside work in other conflict‑affected contexts including West Africa, Afghanistan and the Indo‑Pacific.

Jo oversees Itad’s work with the UK Government’s Integrated Security Fund (ISF) and is Project Director and Team Leader for the ISF Fund‑wide Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) contract. She has previously served as Project Director or Regional MEL Lead for ISF MEL contracts in East Africa, South Asia and the Indo‑Pacific and the UK Overseas Territories.

Jo’s expertise spans peacebuilding, stabilisation, security sector reform and preventing violent extremism. She is an experienced evaluator, with a strong track record in designing and leading theory‑based and realist evaluations for a range of clients and is an experienced trainer in MEL systems and evaluation design.

Before joining Itad, Jo was a consultant at Oxford Policy Management, where she designed and led reviews and evaluations in conflict settings for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the United Nations Development Programme and the World Bank. She also worked as a conflict‑sensitivity adviser across three large FCDO technical assistance programmes in the extractives sector in Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana. Earlier in her career, Jo worked with the peacebuilding organisation International Alert on social accountability programming in post‑conflict contexts in East Africa.

Jo holds a BA in Geography from Durham University and an MA in African Studies (Politics) from SOAS, University of London.
