Itad undertook a series of impact assessments under DFID’s Legal Assistance for Economic Reform (LASER) Programme. LASER aimed to improve investment climates in developing countries by helping to identify and solve commercial law and justice problems, and by documenting and sharing lessons learnt about how to do this
Itad carried out rigorous impact assessments of several commercial law and justice reform programmes. Whilst there were many different initiatives to reform the business enabling environment in developing countries, remarkably little was known about which reforms achieve impact and why – these impact assessments offered an exciting opportunity to address this information deficit.
