IEO UNFPA, with Itad and Impact Ready
11/07/2017

The purpose of the evaluation is to assess the UNFPA support to the prevention, response to and elimination of GBV, and harmful practices, within both development and humanitarian settings. The evaluation will be forward-looking and strategic in nature and will aim to inform the next strategic planning cycle including the strategic direction, gaps and opportunities for UNFPA work in addressing gender based violence and harmful practices. It will also provide input to inform the strategic positioning of UNFPA in this area of work, reflecting the changing development environment and alignment with the 2030 development agenda.

The primary objectives of the evaluation are:

  1. To assess the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of the UNFPA support to the prevention, response to and elimination of GBV and harmful practices including in humanitarian settings
  2. To assess the extent to which UNFPA has effectively positioned itself as a key player among national partners, within the UN system and the broader development community in this area of work
  3. To identify lessons learned, capture good practices and generate knowledge from past and current cooperation, to inform the implementation of the next Strategic Plan (2018-2021).
