The UKES Conference provides an important space for the evaluation community to share knowledge and experience, discuss ideas and connect with peers. This year’s conference theme is ‘Data in focus’. The conference promises to shine a light on the vital role of data in delivering impactful evaluations that drive positive change. Conference sessions will delve into the data lifecycle in the evaluation process, from commissioning to reporting.

Enhancing development research impact with equity

We’ll share evidence and lessons from our evaluation of the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) – a £1.5billion fund designed to create knowledge and drive innovation to address poverty. As we draw to the end of our five-year evaluation, we will look at what the GCRF data tells us about the benefits of building equitable programmes – and the outcomes equity helps to achieve.

Applying value for money rubrics to large and complex international research and innovation portfolios: Lessons from design and implementation

While value for money is a key concern for funders, it can be a challenging area to evaluate for research and innovation programmes. Real world change is slow to emerge, and the value of research is often hard to quantify. The panel will share practical experience and reflections on evaluating value for money in three large research funds – the Global Challenges Research Fund, the Newton Fund and the International Science Partnerships Fund.
