Mohammed has over a decade’s experience working and ‘learning’ in fragile and conflict-affected settings. He has, over the period, provided technical advice and expertise for USAID, EU and AUSAID supported projects in strengthening resilience and building social cohesion in communities affected by conflicts, especially in northern Ghana.
Prior to joining Itad on the USAID-PELA II Activity, he played a lead consultant’s role for COGINTA – a Swiss based INGO with presence across the Sahel to engage local, regional and national actors in the design of the first ever EU-supported P/CVE project in Ghana.
He has consulted for the GFA Consulting Group GmbH from Germany; and worked for the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) to develop integrated programme, monitoring, and evaluation mechanisms to promote peace and stability in conflict-affected communities.
He has various publications sharing insights on democratic governance, peace and security in the Sahel, and other parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
Mohammed holds a postgraduate M.Phil. degree in Peace and Development Studies from the School for Development Studies, University of Cape Coast; a BA (Hons) degree in Integrated Development Studies from the University for Development Studies; and a three-year professional teaching certificate programme from the Tamale College of Education.
Mohammed is passionate about mainstreaming gender; creating enabling structures for inclusion as well as representation for ethnic minorities in Development Thought.
