Current knowledge of the links between climate and conflict

An interactive poster capturing current trends and links in knowledge and thinking between climate, conflict and peacebuilding.

28/11/2022

Climate change is inexorably linked with the most intractable development and humanitarian challenges of our time, including conflict and security. Its impacts
are felt most heavily by disadvantaged and vulnerable people, and it is likely to hinder development efforts and threaten sustainable development.

We work with partners globally to help them strengthen their understanding of the impacts of climate change on their development programmes and their options to transition to more sustainable ways of working.

One of the ways we do this is applying a climate lens in all our monitoring, evaluation and learning activities. In recent years, we have been exploring how best to mainstream climate and ecological concerns into our conflict related work.

This interactive poster captures current trends and links in knowledge and thinking between climate, conflict and peacebuilding. It includes a range of bite-sized resources such as podcasts, videos and articles.

The poster was developed in connection with our work leading a consortium to provide monitoring, evaluation, research and learning services to the UK Government’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF), across South Asia. The CSSF’s monitoring, evaluation and learning system is focused on capturing evidence and learning against as set of Fund-level outcomes. The resources in the poster are organised by those outcomes.
