Taking a supply-side approach, wheat will be fortified with iron and folic acid, and edible oil/ghee with vitamin A. Fortification is a highly cost-effective intervention and has already been shown to have some success in Pakistan (in the iodisation of salt).

Itad, OPM and GAIN are using a mixed-methods design to evaluate the impact of the interventions, which include the provision of industrial mill equipment, capacity building of regulatory bodies, and an advocacy component to increase the demand for, and awareness of the benefits of fortified products.
