Preparation of a M&E system linked to a computerised management information system for the DBSA’s infrastructure programmes
1999; South Africa; Development Bank of South Africa
Itad, contracted by the Development Bank of South Africa (DBSA), worked with the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) unit to modify loan appraisal and monitoring systems.
The main feature of the approach was to introduce logframe-style results chain analysis and to promote the use of baseline and follow-up socio-economic surveys. Training courses were held for operational staff and managers. The system was designed to be implemented as part of a new computerised management information system.
The development Bank of Southern Africa was implementing a process of change designed to increase the impact focus of Bank operations and improve the flow of information about loan performance, with special attention to social welfare of urban infrastructure.Image © Cape Town – South Africa.
