Itad supported the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation System for the China Watershed Management Project which helped to evaluate the poverty impact.

19/05/2006

Itad was contracted by the World Bank to support the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation System for the China Watershed Management Project which helped to evaluate the poverty impact of the Bank Loess Plateau project interventions.

The previous M&E system of the Loess Project was updated to include indicators for monitoring poverty and especially monitoring environmental-poverty linkages in this ecologically fragile region. Stakeholder participation was a central theme of this assignment.

The World Bank, with grant assistance from the Department for International Development wished to evaluate the poverty impact of the Bank Loess Plateau project interventions. The mountainous Loess plateau covers six provinces of northern and western China. It is environmentally degraded due to extensive man-made soil and water erosion and these are major factors in poverty and reduced livelihood opportunities.
