Katharina Welle has over 15 years’ experience in WASH applied research, monitoring and evaluation covering 19 countries.
She is a Principal Consultant at Itad and leads our WASH team. While at Itad, she has developed a systems-based approach to third party monitoring in WASH and has contributed to work on innovative impact evaluation approaches, including qualitative comparative analysis and process tracing. She regularly leads evaluations, including those on other topics linked to WASH services such as health and education.
Prior to joining Itad, Katharina carried out applied research, reviews and evaluations in the water sector related to politics and governance, aid relationships and on sector-based monitoring and evaluation.
She holds a PhD from the University of Sussex on the politics of performance monitoring and has a keen interest in better understanding governance related to WASH services to improve accountability and sustainability.
