Location: Brighton, hybrid Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time 37.5 per week Salary: Circa £38,000 pa depending on experience Closing date: Thursday 7th December 2023 The Human Development Practice By joining our growing Human Development Practice, you will work alongside a dynamic group of people who are driven by a commitment to improve the lives of people around the breadth of human development topics. We oversee a dynamic and rapidly evolving portfolio focused around six core areas of expertise: (1) sexual and reproductive health & rights, (2) global health security, (3) health systems strengthening (HSS), (4) global health architecture and strategy, (5) education and (6) water, sanitation and hygiene. WE also continue to work in other health areas as opportunities arise. Our Human Development team is recognised as a global leader in providing monitoring, evaluation, learning and strategy advice and services to a diverse range of clients, including bilateral governments, multinational agencies and foundations. Examples from our growing portfolio include: we evaluate youth-led design for sexual and reproductive health and rights solutions under our Adolescents 360 project; we are a learning partner under FCDO’s Women’s Integrated Sexual Health programme, we have led five global health institutions under the HSS Evaluation Collaborative to explore new ways of measuring health system interventions, we evaluate DHSC’s anti-microbial resistance portfolio of projects under the Fleming Fund, and we just completed the evaluation of the multilateral COVAX mechanism. The Role We are recruiting for a consultant to join the team to work on projects across the human development portfolio. They will contribute to the successful delivery and management of projects, build and own relationships with key client stakeholders, contribute to business development activities, share learning through knowledge products and external conferences and events, and be a part of maintaining our excellent reputation with our clients. The core technical strengths of all our consultants are focused around four key areas: Evidence Advocate: generating robust evidence and using this to support clients and shape global debates; Change Agent: supporting clients in reflecting,learning and managing change; Project Manager: contributing to and building high performing project teams that deliver quality and commercial targets; Trusted Advisor: building long term relationships with clients and partners that add value and deliver commercial success. The Candidate You will have a proven track record within monitoring, evaluation and learning assignments and seen at least one significant project through the full lifecycle within the health space; with experience in education desirable. You may also have a post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline, but this isn’t essential. We also know that there are great candidates who will not fit everything we have described above, or who have important skills we have not mentioned. As an evidence advocate you will use a range of data and analysis tools to apply in a structured and systematic way to produce evidence-based findings. As a change agent you can effectively analyse and interpret data to support evidence based discussions and use strong client facing skills to deliver this. As a project manager you will have demonstrated your ability to pro-actively manage clients whilst building trust, ensuring a quality focus throughout, supported by clear commercial project management skills. As a trusted advisor you will have researched and understood client challenges and offered solutions and alternates.
