Clients ask ITAD to help with the wider management information systems (MIS) within which their Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is based. We have particular interests in management information systems to support decentralised systems of government, portfolios of development projects and for the management of research programmes, especially those with competitive grants.
Our approach is based on the principle that M&E are an integral part of overall management. Information systems should therefore support and inform decision-making at all levels of management. Key to this is the need to integrate data within an organisation in a unified, well structured and flexible system so that decision-makers and other stakeholders have access to timely, relevant and accessible information products.
Computer-based solutions generally provide the most powerful and cost-effective solutions. We advocate a 'soft-systems' approach which places emphasis on the human dimension in order that the MIS is both usable and used.
