As part of the Accra Action Agenda, partner and donor countries have agreed to i) voluntarily monitor the implementation of the Principles for Good International Engagement in Fragile States and Situations and ii) launch an International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and State Building. The Principles Monitoring initiative seeks to achieve the following: Assess the progress that international actors have made in implementing the 10 Principles and how they have contributed to the partner countries’ overarching goals; Generate a first set of qualitative indicators to be used alongside the Paris Declaration surveys. The International Dialogue initiative seeks to promote a more coherent approach to policy engagement in countries affected by fragility and conflict, by identifying common definitions, challenges, and priority actions around peacebuilding and statebuilding. Joint consultative meetings for the two initiatives are due to take place in Côte d’Ivoire, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, and Sierra Leone, bringing together national, regional and international state and non-state actors. The meetings will be part of an iterative process leading to the 4th OECD-DAC High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in 2011.
