Dr. Munirat is a trained Nurse Midwife and holds a PhD degree in Medical Sociology, MSc Sociology and BSc Human Nutrition. She has over 20 years of experience working in developing countries and her area of expertise is Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights. She has worked in both private and government health institutions and over the last 14 years, she has been working in the field of maternal child health, sexual and reproductive health including HIV/AIDS; implementing, managing and evaluating programmes run by NGOs, governments and international donors.
She participated in national HIV/AIDS Strategy development & played significant role in restructuring Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) and led selection of the Principal Recipients for GFATM in NIgeria.
Munirat has managed multi-million programmes for donors and managed Life Planning Education Project, which contributed to the approval of Family Life and HIV/AIDS Education curriculum in NIgeria. As acting team leader, HIV/AIDS unit in UNDP, she worked on building capacity of stakeholders on governance and leadership of the response to the epidemic.
She is skilled at developing, facilitating and evaluating trainings including Training of Trainers and developed several curricula for TOT trainings, Family Planning, Adolescent Sexuality,HIV/AIDS prevention and programme management.
As ITAD consultant, she has managed and led various reviews and evaluations of various HIV/AIDS programmes in African countries.

ITAD and partner provide consultancy services to NAC and its partners for the conduct of independent assessments of performance in implementing the Integrated Annual Work Plan (IAWP) against the National HIV M&E Framework and budget; and provide qualitative feedback on selected themes critical to achieving program objectives including lessons from international experience. ESSCHA Community Based HIV/AIDS Response Initiative (Enugu State Civil Society Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Nigeria)

This project called for the establishment and strengthening of NGOs working on HIV/AIDS to form a coalition. Capacity assessment of the coalition was assessed in terms of delivering qualitative HIV and AIDS programme in 17 communities and capacity strengthened in this direction. Through a participatory approach, the coalition conducted community assessment, community mobilisation, undergone a TOT, review manuals developed for the community training and key concepts translated into local language. After the TOT, members of the coalition were paired to implement HIV/AIDS community response that covered prevention, stigma reduction and provision of care and support.

This project was used as a quick win project to fill gaps before the design of the main SNR project. Various initiatives were funded from the project covering HIV/AIDS prevention to Care and support. The project also covered capacity building of stakeholders on HIV mainstreaming and implementation of multisectoral responses.
