2009 - 2009 Ongoing SPARC Intranet (DFID, Nigeria)
Project Manager
  SPARC is a GBP50m DFID-funded governance improvement project in Nigeria. The SPARC programme supports State Governments to formulate, monitor and evaluate responsive and appropriate policies and strategies and to improve public financial management and civil service capability. The programme also supports Federal Government to improve incentives for better performance at state level.
  Project manager for the SPARC Intranet: developing an intranet solution for around 100 hundred users working in a low bandwidth, intermittent power context; managing inputs from team members based in Nigeria and the UK; researching and implementing an open standards approach enabling information services on multiple devices; engaging with users based in 5 different states throughout Nigeria.

2009 - 2009 PHSE Association Information Systems Redevelopment (PHSE Association , UK)
Budget Advisor and Tender Evaluator
  The PSHE Association is the membership organisation and registered charity for all professionals working in Personal Social Health & Economic education (PSHE). Upon becoming independent of the National Childrens Bureau in 2009, the Association needed to develop its own information systems infrastructure, including: a new website and CMS; a CRM system and membership database; as well as an online payment processing system.
  IT related consultancy to the Association including: technical scoping, budget setting, writing terms of reference and request for proposal, selecting potential providers, tender evaluation and contractor interviews.
2008 - 2008 Development of the International Land Coalition operating system (International Land Coalition (ILC), UK)
Web interface developer
  On behalf of the International Land Coalition (ILC), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) requested consultancy services for the development of the ILC operating systems needed to implement its Strategic Framework (SF) 2007-2011. There are two aspects to this assignment. Firstly, to develop a Business and Operating Framework (BOF), including related tools and instruments for its implementation. And secondly to draft a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework (MEF): to systematically assess progress towards achieving the SF, as well as to identify the changes necessary to improve ILC performance.
  Development of a web interface for communication with ILC partners and members and providing consultancy on document sharing solutions.
2008 - 2008 Evaluation of Global Development Network's Electronic Network (GDNet) (DFID, UK)
Usability Evaluator
  The Global Development Network (GDN) is a worldwide network of research and policy institutes working to provide a fresh and relevant perspective to development challenges. One of the organisations core activities is to disseminate knowledge on development issues to the public and policymakers, it is this aspect that ITAD's evaluation focuses on.
  Conducting an heuristic evaluation of the GDNet current website and assessing various alternative re-design options. Designing a survey questionnaire to gauge users' feelings on the usability of the website.
2008 - 2008 M&E Framework for Strategic Management Plan and Performance Management (Office of the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights, Switzerland)
IT Consultant
  ITAD was contracted to finalise the Monitoring and Evaluation framework for the Strategic Management Plan, as an effective tool to measure OHCHR's performance towards the achievement of its primary objective of helping bridge the gaps in human rights implementation.
  Identifying the potential users of information and contributing to the design of the OHCHR's Monitoring and Evaluation framework. Mapping existing data sources: assess the existing technology (such as software platforms) and the potential to extract data sets from established management information systems (MIS).
2007 - 2008 Performance Management Improvement Project: development of ARTEMIS (Commonwealth Secretariat, UK)
MIS database expert / interface designer
  ITAD is working on an ongoing assignment to establish improved and results-based business processes and procedures within the Commonwealth Secretariat, particularly relating to managing the Programme and Project Cycle and generating useful performance information. ArteMIS is the information system, currently in development, that will underpin the organisations Performance Management Improvement Project.
  Working as an interface designer developing the ARTEMIS user-interface. Outputs include: the Style and Interaction Guidelines document which specifies usability standards for the whole application and steers the programmers' efforts; design of over 100 separate form specs, the ARTEMIS navigation system and the interface buttons; and a web-based project management system facilitating collaboration amongst the project's geographically separate workers.
2007 - 2007 Evaluation of www.citywildlife.org.uk (Brighton & Hove City Council, UK)
Team Leader
  This evaluation focused on the usability, user experience and accessibility of the City Wildlife website (CWL) for the specific target audience of school children between the ages of 8 and 11. The overall aim of this evaluation was to provide CWL with a useful appraisal of the existing website and provide practical recommendations as to how it might be made more suitable for 8-11 year olds; thereby helping CWL fulfill its stated ambition of attracting more young Nature Wardens to the site.
  Leading a team of 6 to plan and execute the evaluation, report writing and presenting findings to the client. Several evaluation methods and tools were employed: accessibility evaluation, comparisons with other websites, heuristic evaluation, hierarchical task analysis, user questionnaires, a task-based usability test, and the creation of indicative user personas. Key recommendations focused on simplifying core interactions, adapting the aesthetic to the target user group and improving accessibility and cross-browser compatibility.
2006 - 2007 International HIV/AIDS Alliance Indicators & Monitoring System (International HIV/AIDS Alliance, UK)
Database expert
  The International HIV/AIDS Alliance (the Alliance) is an international development non-governmental organisation which was set up in 1993 by a consortium of international donors. The Alliance was established to respond to the need for a specialist, professional intermediary organisation that would work in effective partnership with non-governmental and community-based organisations in developing countries, as well as with national governments, private and public donors and the UN system. ITAD has assisted the Alliance in developing a new strategic framework, a related set of indicators, and a computerised MIS reporting system.
  SQL Server database expert: participating in the roll-out of a new version of the Alliance MIS reporting system; migrating data from previous version; testing and trouble-shooting of the client application (developed in MS Access).
2006 - 2007 CVdb - online CV management system for development consultants (ITAD, UK)
Project Manager
  CVdb is a secure web application that enables consultants to maintain an up to date, quality controlled curriculum vitae. Having logged in with a private username and password, information on the consultant's skills, professional experience and academic record is entered via a user friendly interface; at every stage examples and tips are provided. CV data can be added, edited and deleted as often as necessary. The automatic CV formatting function enables consultants to format their CV data according to donor templates (World Bank, EC etc.) perhaps the biggest labour-saving element of the system.
  Scoping and designing the system; managing inputs from 2 other content providers; programming the database and client application; testing, rolling out to an international user base of 1200 people and providing user technical support. Also responsible for related marketing activities.
2005 - 2007 ADM (Aid Delivery Methods) project management system (EC, Brussels)
Project Manager
  ITAD is consortium leader on a 0.6m Euros per year contract to provide training and methodological support to EC and partner government staff in Project Cycle Management and Economic and Financial Analysis.
  Design and implementation of a secure web-based project management system through which the client logs work orders and monitors expenditure through a variety of customisable reports.
2005 - 2007 DFID Country Programme Evaluations (DFID, UK, Bangladesh, Mozambique, Indonesia)
Information sharing system designer
  ITAD is working for DFID's Evaluation Department to conduct 5 country programme evaluations (CPEs) in the 05/06 financial year. These are in Bangladesh, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, and Rwanda. ITAD is leading a consortium with KIT, the Netherlands Royal Tropical Institute to conduct these evaluations. ITAD has provided the Study Director, Study Co-ordinator, and Team Leader, as well as a number of the technical specialists in the evaluation teams.
  Design of a secure project website and document sharing utility enabling evaluators to view project information from anywhere in the world.
2006 - 2006 participatorytraining.co.uk (John Rowley & Kate Gant, UK)
Project Manager
  John Rowley & Kate Gant provide training and support for people who want to use participatory methods in their work to involve and engage others. A website was commissioned to promote their activities and to act as a resource for those interested in participatory methods.
  Consultation and scoping: establishing the target audience for the website, deciding on content and navigation systems. Development and design: creating a website that was aesthetically and technically suitable for the target audience, ensuring compatibility with relevant operating systems and web browsers. Sourcing hosting services and search engine optimisation.
2006 - 2006 East Sussex Council for Voluntary Youth Service Website (ESCVYS, UK)
Website consultant - scoping and quality control
  ESCVYS is a third sector infrastructure organisation supporting a diverse network of over 90 voluntary and community organisations working with children and young people in East Sussex.

2005 - 2006 Joint Wetlands Livelihoods Project (JWL) website (DFID, UK / Nigeria)
Project Manager
  ITAD is implementing the JWL project, which has the goal of sustainable improvement of the livelihoods of rural poor people dependant on common property resources in northern Nigeria. Its purpose is the demonstration of successful approaches to more equitable and sustainable management of the most important common property resource in this part of semi-arid Nigeria: water.
  A website was commissioned to highlight related issues and the activities of the JWL project amongst local stakeholders and government bodies as well as the UK-based donor organisation. Managing inputs from contractors based in Nigeria and UK.
2005 - 2006 ITAD Intranet (ITAD, UK)
Project Manager
  ITAD required an internal information system. A central, user-friendly portal was needed so that staff could easily access information from a variety of different databases.
  Project manager, responsible for scoping, designing and implementing the Intranet using ASP.NET. The ITAD Intranet is a constantly evolving system, recently completed elements include an online CV editing and formatting facility, a forum for company discussions and a data-driven web application for monitoring company activities from lead generation to project implementation.
2005 - 2006 ITAD website (ITAD, UK)

  As part of a general refresh of ITAD's marketing material, a new website was commissioned with the view to improving communication with clients and partners. The new site is easily updatable using a content management system and features many photos taken by ITAD consultants.
  Company-wide consultation on content and form of proposed new website; complete re-design of existing website's graphical and text content; managing the inputs of around 20 contributors; development of content management system; implementation using HTML and ASP.NET.
2004 - 2005 STAR Consulting website and re-branding (STAR Consulting, UK)

  Brighton-based training consultancy STAR Consulting sought to improve its presence on the internet and spearhead a new marketing strategy with a new logo and a website re-design.
  Complete re-design of the company's website; search engine optimisation - ensuring that relevant key words lead to STAR Consulting's pages; design of a new logo.
2003 - 2004 ORION database application (STAR Consulting, UK)
Project Manager
  A comprehensive 12-month project to improve the efficiency of information systems. A database application was designed to automate communications and financial monitoring.
  Systems analysis, design and implementation. Application was delivered using MS Access, VBA and SQL Server.
2003 - 2004 DAMOVO UK Training Evaluation System (DAMOVO UK, UK)
Project Manager
  DAMOVO UK provides voice and data information systems to clients such as ChevronTexaco, National Grid, BBC and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. The company required a training evaluation system whereby delegates could complete electronic questionnaires related to learning experiences. Information provided by delegates is stored in a central database from which management information is drawn.
  The solution to this requirement included: an extensive consultation with the client to establish reporting requirements; research into training evaluation methods; an automated emailing system that sends personalised electronic questionnaires to delegates on training courses; a password protected online reporting system through which managers can access individual questionnaires and a variety of summaries.
2003 - 2003 Tutoring BSc students in relational database design and ASP webpage development (University of Greenwich, UK)

  Selected by the University for post-graduate work tutoring students with special learning needs / from disadvantaged backgrounds as part of an effort to encourage higher educational attainment in the local community.
  One-on-one tutoring on relational database design and ASP. Assistance with written work. Weekly tutorials were complemented with online and telephone support.
2003 - 2003 Multimedia website for promoting a short film: OVA (OVA, UK)

  A content rich website was required to promote an independent short film.
  The site was developed using Flash to create a high-impact aesthetic appeal. Video streaming and ASP pages (facilitating an underlying content management system) where also included.
2002 - 2002 E. Ribbons online jewellery store (E.Ribbons, UK)
Web Design Consultant
  The client was looking to develop an online store for their unique jewellery products.
  Initial design and conceptualisation consultancy was provided, design prototypes developed and possible technology solutions explored. A production schedule was outlined in preparation for site development by a third party.
2002 - 2002 Gap year article and webpage for Connexions (Connexions, UK)
Web Designer / Copy writer
  Connexions is an information and advice service for young people aged 13-19. A page was required for the organisations website that would help promote the idea of international volunteer placement in a gap year.
  A search engine optimised text article was written and incorporated into a lively, colourful HTML webpage designed to appeal to the target audience.
2001 - 2001 Exchange programme article for Erasmus brochure (European Commission / Erasmus, Sweden)
Copy writer
  Erasmus is the European Commission's flagship educational programme for Higher Education students, teachers and institutions. It was introduced with the aim of increasing student mobility within Europe.
  An article was commissioned to document experiences in university exchange programmes for Erasmus promotional material.
2001 - 2001 Anderson Consulting re-branding and website (Anderson Consulting, UK)
Web designer
  A small, independent management consultancy firm focussing on third sector issues in East Sussex required a website and a new logo.
  Initial design and conceptualisation consultancy was provided and design prototypes developed in HTML. A new logo was designed for use on business cards and promotional literature.
2000 - 2000 Graduate Student Survey (University of Greenwich, UK)
Survey data collector / interviewer
  An annual survey was undertaken to gather information about the situation of students, post graduation. Key questions related to employment status and remuneration levels.
  Conducting survey interviews over the telephone and managing a database of respondent data.
2000 - 2000 Reel Mobile Cinema website and logo (Reel Mobile Cinema, UK)
Project Manager
  Reel Mobile Cinema is a vintage cinema bus project. The project has obtained funding to renovate a 1963 Bedford bus for use as a mobile cinema. Once complete the bus will tour cultural and community events, showcasing independent films to new audiences.
  A promotional website was developed, including an interactive gallery showing the progress of the renovation. A logo was designed, based on vintage vehicle badges.
1999 - 1999 The Ghost of Hall Place, multimedia community arts installation (Hall Place / Vanilla Beer, UK)

  Hall Place is a Grade I listed Tudor mansion house in Bexley, South London. The trust which manages the facility endeavours to 'provide vibrant cultural sites and activities for the education and enjoyment of everyone.'
  Commissioned by Hall Place's artist in residence, Vanilla Beer, to develop a multimedia installation for exhibition in the gallery.
1999 - 1999 Accelerator website, logo, CD cover and magazine advert (Headwrecker Records, UK)
Project Manager
  A London-based record company required a website and marketing material to promote one of their acts.
  Managing inputs from various creatives, a Flash website was developed including online audio streaming, a news section and an interactive gallery. Particular attention was paid to bandwidth issues, ensuring that the site was accessible to a wide range of users. Consistent branding was designed to be applied across all media outputs.
1998 - 1998 The Body Shop Deck Divas project (The Body Shop, UK)
IT / logistical support and copy writing
  The Body Shop's Deck Divas project was aimed at promoting the involvement of women and girls in music production and performance, fields largely dominated by men.
  Provided IT and general technical support as well as event management services to a group of female music producers / DJs who were taking part in the project. This culminated in a performance at Glastonbury Festival, in the Megadog dance tent. Wrote a published article about the project.
1998 - 1998 Web-based tutorial guides for multimedia students (Northbrook College, UK)
Web developer / eLearning specialist
  Northbrook College's multimedia department contains many complex IT systems which students are required to learn in their courses of study. To complement the classroom and assignment-based learning activities, a series of online 'how to' guides was commissioned, enabling students to improve their knowledge.
  The web-based tutorials were developed in HTML and included diagrams, screen grabs, sound clips and other multimedia elements to create a rich learning experience.
