Charlotte Vaillant is a development economist with 14 years of experience, including 10 in relation to Africa. She was a senior country economist, then a freelance author for the Economist Intelligence Unit from 1997 to 2006. She has also worked for the African Development Bank, the Commission for Africa, and the peacebuilding organisation, International Alert. She has combined political with economic analysis throughout much of her career. Areas of work in macroeconomics have included pro-poor growth analysis and regional integration. Since joining ITAD in 2007, Charlotte has led, or co-led eight country and regional programme evaluations for DFID, Irish Aid and Norad. This has involved looking specifically at aid delivery mechanisms, including basket funds and budget support. She is well-versed in training and facilitating workshops and coordinating the work of others.
